Haval H6 and Jolion from China: export buyer's guide

China's best-selling SUV nameplate for over a decade — proven, well-equipped and now available used at export-friendly prices.

Why the H6 exports well

The Haval H6 has been China's best-selling SUV for most of the last decade — a position earned by offering more equipment, more space and a more competitive price than its peers. That domestic dominance translates directly into export advantages:

  • Massive supply depth. Millions of H6 units have been sold in China. The used market offers a wide range of years, trims and colours at any given time — which means we can usually match specific specs rather than asking you to compromise.
  • Modern platform. The third-generation H6 (2021+) rides on GWM's L.E.M.O.N. platform — a modern, modular architecture that GWM uses across its global lineup. This means the car your buyer receives is the same engineering standard that GWM sells new in Australia, Thailand and Brazil.
  • Turbo petrol simplicity. The standard 1.5T and 2.0T engines are conventional turbocharged four-cylinders with DCT transmissions — no hybrid complexity, no charging dependency, no DG shipping rules.
  • Equipment that sells. Chinese-market H6 units come generously equipped: panoramic roof, large touchscreen, 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise on higher trims. These features help your buyer see value relative to the price.

Both are left-hand drive, FWD (some H6 variants offer AWD), and meet China VI emission standards on recent model years. Hybrid variants of the H6 exist (DHT system) but are less common in the used market and add the same shipping and service considerations as any hybrid/EV export.

Which markets these models suit

  • Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Iraq, UAE): SUV is the default body style. The H6's equipment level competes with models costing significantly more new. GWM already sells in several Gulf markets, providing service infrastructure.
  • North Africa (Algeria, Libya): The Jolion's compact size and lower price suit urban markets. Algeria's 3-year age limit means only the newest units qualify — available at depth from the H6/Jolion's recent production.
  • Latin America (Brazil, Chile, Peru): GWM has assembly operations in Brazil and sells the H6 new in several South American markets — parts availability and brand awareness are already building.
  • Central Asia and the Caucasus (Kazakhstan, Georgia): Overland shipping routes from China make H6 and Jolion competitive on freight as well as FOB price.
  • Africa (Nigeria, Angola, Senegal): The H6's generous equipment at a mid-range price makes it a strong retail proposition. In markets without GWM presence, verify parts channels first.

What to check before buying

  1. Generation matters. The third-gen H6 (2021+) is a significant step up from the second-gen in platform, safety and styling. For export, target the third-gen unless your market specifically favours the older body style. We filter by generation in our sourcing.
  2. DCT transmission feel. The 7-speed dual-clutch is standard across the range. DCTs are common in Chinese vehicles and perform well, but if your market's buyers have strong preferences (some prefer CVT or traditional automatic), this is worth noting. The H6 does not offer alternative transmissions.
  3. Engine displacement and duty. The 2.0T H6 may attract higher import duty in countries where duty scales with engine size. Compare the duty impact with your customs broker before choosing between 1.5T and 2.0T — the per-unit duty difference can exceed the engine upgrade's value.

How the H6 compares to alternatives

vs Toyota Corolla CrossThe H6 is larger, better-equipped and cheaper FOB — but the Toyota badge resells faster in almost every market. The H6 wins on value and spec; the Corolla Cross wins on brand certainty
vs Chery Tiggo 7/8 ProVery similar positioning. Chery has a longer export history and better parts coverage in most markets today; Haval has a newer platform and more generous standard equipment. Compare current FOB prices — they trade places frequently
vs BYD Song Plus DM-iDifferent value proposition: BYD offers hybrid fuel savings at a higher FOB price with DG shipping. The H6's petrol simplicity suits markets that prioritise serviceability over running-cost savings
vs Geely EmgrandDifferent segments — the Emgrand is a budget sedan, the H6 a mid-size SUV. Complementary rather than competitive; mixing both in a container gives showroom range

Buying notes from the exporter's side

  1. Specify generation and engine. "H6" without a generation means we need to ask follow-up questions. Tell us 3rd-gen, 1.5T or 2.0T, and we match precisely.
  2. Match the manufacture date to your age rule. Third-gen H6 production started in 2021; most units are well within 5-year windows. For 3-year markets, only the newest stock qualifies — available but at a smaller discount.
  3. Think in containers. 2–3 H6 units per 40ft container; mixing with Jolions or sedans optimises space and gives your buyer range from a single shipment.
  4. Factor the full landed cost. A competitive FOB price is the starting point, not the final number. Duty, freight and clearance often change the ranking between brands — get your broker's numbers before committing.
  5. Verify before you pay. Full photo set, VIN plate, odometer, and condition notes — all before paying the deposit. This applies regardless of the price point.

How we supply Haval models

The H6's massive sales volume means supply is rarely the constraint — but configuration variation is. Model-year facelifts, regional trim differences and the 1.5T/2.0T engine split mean two "Haval H6" listings can be meaningfully different cars. We confirm the exact generation, engine, trim and equipment before quoting, and photograph the manufacturer plate to verify production date on every unit. For fleet-scale orders, we supply consistent-spec batches so your buyer experience is uniform.

Browse current stock to see available Haval models, or tell us your market, preferred spec and quantity — we supply to your spec and reply within 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions

What is Haval's relationship with Great Wall Motor?

Haval is the SUV brand of Great Wall Motor (GWM), one of China's largest private automakers. GWM also owns the Ora EV brand and the Tank off-road brand. Haval is to GWM what Tiggo is to Chery — the volume SUV line. GWM has been expanding international sales aggressively, with assembly plants and distribution in Australia, Thailand, Brazil and several other markets.

Which generation of H6 should I look for?

The third-generation H6 (launched 2021, codenamed B06) is the one to target for export — modern platform, updated styling, better safety features and well within most countries' age import limits. Earlier generations are cheaper but older and may not meet age-limit rules in stricter markets.

Is the Jolion just a smaller H6?

Essentially yes — the Jolion (also called H6S in some markets) sits below the H6 in size and price, sharing the same platform and engine family. It targets the compact-SUV segment where the H6 targets mid-size. For price-sensitive markets or as a complement to H6 orders, the Jolion offers a lower entry point.

How does used Haval pricing compare to Japanese brands?

A used H6 typically comes in 20-35% below a comparable-age Toyota or Honda SUV at FOB level. The trade-off is brand recognition — Toyota resells itself, while Haval may need your sales effort in markets where the brand is new. In markets where GWM already sells new, that gap narrows quickly.

Disclaimer: import regulations change and are applied by the destination country's customs at the time of clearance. The information on this page is general guidance, not legal advice — always confirm current rules with your local customs broker before paying a deposit. Under FOB terms, import compliance and clearance are the buyer's responsibility; we flag obvious issues (such as vehicle age limits) before you commit.
